Rising above the sea smoke, Whaleback Light is shown as a silhouette with the sun rising behind it. Sea smoke is created when extremely cold air, in this case -10�F mixes with the relatively warmer air at the waters surface. This is an example of why I seek out dramatic weather in my photography.

Thanks Elizabeth, but that's sea smoke, not fog, that's what happens when -10°F air meets the warmer sea water. It was a very chilly morning that day, that's for sure!
