Somehow I always choose the coldest days to hike New Hampshire's Mount Avalon. This day was no different, with temps well below zero, and 20-30 mph winds, it was rather chilly to say the least. However as the distant summits of the Presidential Range began to glow pink, all of the discomfort, the cold fingers, the numb toes, was immediately forgotten.
